Standing 33 feet tall, our Native American tipi proudly welcomes guests upon arrival at the park. Visible from across the Frio River Valley, this stunning landmark adds a distinctive cultural touch to the landscape.
For centuries, the Frio River Valley was home to various Indigenous tribes, including the Atajal, Lipan Apache, and Comanche. Both the Lipan Apache and Comanche relied on tipis for shelter, as their nomadic lifestyles required mobility to follow bison herds across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
Our tipi, purchased from Nomadics Tipi Makers, is a Sioux-style design, recognized for its traditional three-pole setup.
While the tipi serves primarily as a display piece, special arrangements can be made for group gatherings. With space to comfortably accommodate up to 16 people, it offers a truly one-of-a-kind setting for an unforgettable event.
Big things are on the horizon! We’re excited to launch our BBQ Center of Excellence, a community BBQ space that’s free and open to all park guests.
The center will feature three Recteq BBQs, including a large smoker, plus a pizza oven and other top-tier equipment—everything you need for the ultimate outdoor cooking experience.
Stay tuned as we bring the final chapter of this story to life! 🍖
